I just bought a quick connect sissy bar and backrest on Ebay for my RK. I akso bought the docking hardware but it comes with no instructions. Where exactly do they attach? Do the saddlebag guards need to be removed? I know this sounds dumb but I always like to make sure before I do anything to my bike because with my luck I'll unscrew something and the whole bike will fall apart.
Also, has anyone tried any aftermarket non quick connect sissy bars (with screw on side plates). I saw some in a catalogue that looked pretty nice.Do add ons have to be from Harley? Does it ruin your resale to have a bunch of non Harley stuff on it?
Your best bet is to go to your local dealership and ask nicely for a printout of the installation instructions for the docking hardware. It is a royal PITA using instructions. I can't imagine trying to do it blind.
It's not that bad, You need to put a washer under the front mount to bring the bag out so it don't twist and be sure to do one side of the bike at a time or else you won't be able to line the bolts back up.Hope you got all the hardware....
