Im trying to find somewhere to have paint mixed up for my 99 Ultra. Its sinister blue and diamond ice, but no body shops in my area can work off of that and get me paint mixed. Is there somewhere I can go to get a code or formula. I dont want to pay HD for their over priced paint. Thanks in advance.
....I don't think you are gonna have achoice...I'm and adjuster and anytime the bike shops do any repaints(factory stock colors), they always have to buy it by the quart from Harley...and you're right...it ain't cheap!...
BVBOB, an HDFer, posted the following PPG paint code information on another forum:
99
Aztec Orange Pearlcoat 61889
Birch White 90303
Cobalt Blue Pearlcoat 191058
Diamond Ice Pedarlcoat 37056
Lazer Red Pearl 75129
Mystique Green 47981
Nugget Yellow 83735
Scarlet Red 72095
Sinister Blue Pearl 190524
Violet Pearl 52111
Vivid Black 9850
The computer used to provide the mixing instructions should show the HD paint name after the PPG code is entered. Also, I have no experience in painting, but it would seem difficult to get a perfect match with newly applied paint side-by-side with parts painted 8 or 9 years ago that have been washed, waxed, etc.
Go to a auto paint shop distributor like Dupontand just have them do a computer match and sample spray test. You would need to bring in apart for color match. They have no formula that I know of.
