Thanks for the info. Thank god they changed the way it is done. Used to be you had to open the throttle wide open with the bike running and warmed up. Sure, you just basically opened it wide open and quickly closed it running. But if you did it too fast it didnt workand if did it to slow you had a screaming enginewith the bike on the side stand. I always thought that was a really screwed up process. Glad it has changed.
i've had my pcIII for 2 years and i was able to set my 100% throttle with the engine off.... when did they change?
also, i get 39 to 41 mpg around town. better on the highway.
There's been quite a bit of discussion about this on the Touring and ECM/ignition forums. You don't need to click on anything except "Reset," which sets 0% TP, then 100% after you twist the throttle and hold until the large number on right settles. My number on left is ~5200 and the large one on right ~28k.
Your mileage would improve by tweaking the cruise range (2-3k RPM @ 5-20% TP), and there's also a plethora of info on that here (especially the ECM/ignition forum), too. I've been tweaking mine for a year now and mileage is 38-40 in city, up to 50 on the backroads with few cold starts. Unlike my old carbed RK, I'm having a tough time breaking the 50mpg barrier, though. I don't really think it's possible on this bike.
zero is extremely important. if you don't do that one, it really throws the map off. 100 not as much, but its a simple thing to do, if you want it best, you should do it.
Am I correct in that the 08s do not require the throttle position zeroing?
Jamie @ Fuel Moto indicated when I spoke to himabout the issues I was having a couple of weeks back that on an 08, you do not set the throttle positions.
Just curious! When at zero throttle, did the values on the PCIII jump up and down? I saw this with my previous bike.
when I was trying with just the 9v the green bar would dance around sort of mid range. When I took off the 9v and used the bike in the ign on mode, the green bar settled right down to the bottom and then went up as I twisted the throttle. I could also read the percent range in the program as well.
