Default Stuttering / dying during warmup -- PCIII?

Hey gang.

On my 08 RKC, I've installed Jamie's power package (pipes, a/c & PCIII).

When I first installed it all, I didn't do any throttle position setting, but after starting it up and "listening" to it, it backfired a lot. So I found out I needed to do the throttle position thing on here.

Well, I did both closed and open. Stopped the backfire, but it would sputter and/or die a few minutes after running when I let it warm up. I called Keith at FuelMoto and he said not to do the OPEN throttle setting, so I started over and just did closed throttle. Still does it.

My question is, what's causing the completely random sputter and/or dying under 4 minutes of running? (at first I thought the cold had something to do with it (<30) but just an hour ago she did it again (70 degrees))

I used a good deal of Ultra Copper on the pipes, and with the hand check while running, they're not leaking any...and I can't think of anything else it might be.

So I'm goin straight to the experts.

Thanks in advance for the thoughts!!

TJ

Take the PCIII out of the system and see how it runs. I had two bad ones before finally got a good one. Could be lots of things, but taking the PCIII out of the system is easy to do. You don't have to remove it, just bypass it to the ECM.

I may be wrong...but I think you already screwed it up. If you calibrated the "Open" off the dyno...then it needs to go back to the dyno to get reset.

Maybe there is some way to reset it to Jamie's settings and then calibrate just the closed position.

One other thing, and Fuelmoto probably already told you, but be sure the engine is warmed up BEFORE you set the zero throttle position.

You're right, the "open" calibration can't be done on TBW bikes off the dyno. I'm not sure how you would reset this correctly, but I would call and talk to Jamie about it. I don't know how this is done with TBW.

Thanks guys. I'll call Jamie and see what he says.

When I did mess with it, it was warmed up. And when I talked to Keith, he gave me the correct 'open' setting to put back in the map.

Did you try taking the PCIII out of the system?

Oh yeah, forgot to answer you tater... I did. And it ran just fine.

Is it bad on the bike to have an a/c and pipes but no fuel management?

Be sure you let Fuelmoto know that when you talk with them. You do need some type of fuel management with an improved performance a/c since you'll run too lean. I'm sure it's either an adjustment on your PCIII or maybe you need a replacement, but Fuelmoto should be able to help either way.
