Default power commander III

Installed the PCIII today and after some minor glitches finally got installed, set throttle and started it up, ran at about 2000 rpm initially, finally settled down at about 1000. I have made no major modifications except screaming eagle exhaust. This is what I informed the folks at Dynojet. Questions-The screen shows "No map present" at the bottom, and after setting the throttle positions at 0 and 100, should the idle be that high, it ran about 700-750 prior tothe installation. Since the folks at Dynojet are not available on the weekends and this being Saturday, thought I'd ask any of you folks for some input. My M/C is a 2004 Electra Glide Classic with EFI..

I would suspect since it says "no map present" that it is running in limp mode.

I was under the impression that Jamie had pre installed a map for my setup and that part of the installation was not needed, it says on the front of the box map installed and has Jamie's initials.

[ol][*]Hook the PCIII USB to your computer[*]Start Power Commander software[*]Put bike in Neutral[*]Start bike[*]Ensure digital displays (Throttle, RPM, etc.) on right side of Power Commander software panel are "live".[*]If no map is being displayed, press "Get Map" on left side of Power Commander software panel.[*]If a map still does not present itself, maybe one is not loaded.

Thanks for your input, did as you suggested, it stated Map Downloaded, okay how do you determine what map you have or can you, also the throttle positions are 3 and 100, is this okay you think. The idle runs about 2000 until warmed up and then it settles in at about 950 to 1000.
Any other quirks I need to know? Many thanks again

I think 3 at idle is ok, but you can reset your 0 idle again. You don't need the bike running, just the accessory in the "run" postion (with PC hooked up to computer of course), reset and watch the numbers go up as you "roll" on the throttle. Should be 0-100, or even 97-99 is ok too.

EDIT: You can also check your "rev extend" feature by I think ctrl F, and then enable the rev extend.

EDIT..again[&:] If ya use the 9v, jamie said it only lasts about 10-12 min, so be quick. Mine died on me when I was messing around, and it was a new 9v. I was trying to do the throttle reset with just the 9v, fuelmoto said to use the ignition in accssy so it could read the stock ecm (w/no 9v) the 9v is good for downloading maps and such, but not for reading or setting positions in your bike. (like throttle etc, etc)

Actually, using the 9V with ignition on (bike not running) is the best way to set the TP. Setting 0% can be done either way, but although I can't speak for '08's, this is the best procedure for earlier bikes. The reason is that 100% is difficult to set with the engine running. By using the 9V, non-running technique you can hold 100% TP for a few seconds while the numbers settle, and this is the only way I've been able to get a good 100% setting on my '07. BTW, this procedure is in the PC manual and I've discussed it with Jamie in the past.

As for having the settings at exactly 0 and 100%, I would say that 100% can be off a percent or two, but not 0%. If you're at 2% you are likely on a different A/F ratio than 0%, and that could affect decel popping, etc., and the maps I've worked with have all been very different between 0 and 2% in the low-end. There is no reason I can think of why 0% should be hard to set, although I don't know what changes were made in the '08 EFI and PCIII that might change that. Did someone say that TP can't even be set on '08's?
