I bought an 05 RK custom back in september, The guy that sold (gave) me the bike didnt give me the right keys. The ignition is in the unlocked position, so I can ride, I just cant leave it anywhere other that my garage.
Can the dealer get me a key if they run the Vin # ??, if not...
Can a new barrel key be made to the original switch, so I dont have to remove the fork lock? or...
Do I have to buy new ignition, and fork locks??
The dealer may be able to do that, I would give it a try. If notlocksmiths can make you a new key. Not every locksmith works with barrel keys so check around. Don't ask me how I know, I just do..............
So now the real question, Why wouldn't you contact the "SELLER" and get the keys from him?? If I had recenetly made a large purchase, I am certain to write down the contact name, phone, address, and anything else that I can.
He needs to explain why I repeat, "WHY" the keys are not correct. And alsoneeds to get you the correct ignition keys.
The hassle and cost that you will go through will be worrth one (1) maybe even ten (10) phone calls to obtain the keys.
You need to bring title or registration to dealer. They will go on h-dnet and type in the VIN in and get the SWR information that will include the key code. They will then order you the keys. They canonly sella set so it will cost you $22.
