I put my Infinitys in this weekend and thought I would share a couple of pics. I got rid of the grills and the spacers that set the speaker further back in the fairing. Initial thoughts on the speakers is a much cleaner sound. How they will perform at highyway speeds is yet to be known. I took out Hog Tunes.
I wont bad mouth Hog Tunes at all. They are much better than stock. But after the initial listen to the Infinitys I dont think the Hog Tunes will be going back in.
I think they sound pretty good. Crisp and clean. Got them for 60 bucks on e-bay. They use an external crossover, so you have to find a place to strap them to inside your fairing.
Infinity kappa 52.7i is the model. I installed them last week. Loud, clear, and crisp are the best words I can think of. I did not turn the stereo up all the way b/c they got too loud but they did not distort. I am not a audiophile though so my description of these speakers may not be "professional" so take it for what it is.
Anyway....best $60 I spent on my bike so far.
Install was extremely easy. External crossovers were easy to mount. You do have to cut wires, but I did this w/ a kitchen knife and a 6 pack of beer. I have never installed speakers, taken my fairing off, or have any mechanical experience to speak of. Basically, I should not work on anything but nailing my wife.
If I can do the install anyone can. You will be happy
p.s. I have not heard anything but stock speakers and now these on a HD so I have no idea what other speakers may sound like.
You must not be looking at the right ones. The Infinity Kappa 52.7i are 2 ohm. Look at Crutchfield.com ($130.....w/ a bunch of 5 star reviews BTW) and it will show you that. I paid $42 plus $16 shipping on Ebay last week though so I saved a bunch of cash.
But, you make a good point. Don't get a speaker that is 4 ohm and always know what you are spending your money on.
