Default PAINTED INNER FAIRING TO BE INSTALLED TODAY

Just got the go ahead from the insurance co. to go ahead and have the painted inner and outer fairing installed with the Klock Works engine guard eliminator, speaker upgrade and contoured windshield.

I was going to do this myself, but I called my adjuster and he said go ahead. They've been really good with my accident. I've had like 6 or 7 supplements in the past six months and they keep on paying without any problems. They even paid the $300 to have the inner painted when they didn't have to... That brings the total up to $18600 in compensation from the accident. Heck, I only paid $20k for the bike anyway.

'Bout time something went my way after all these years!

Congrats... jest a suggestion for ya. Loose the volt meter and the ambient air temp gauges, move the fuel gauge down and install a set of Polk DB1000 tweeters in those openings. They fit PERFECTLY. Look at the link I've got on my sig line, go to the 06 Road Glide and then to the Attitude Paint Set 1 and look at the inner with the speakers mounted. You can get the speakers on ebay for about $40. I think mine were $39 and change shipped to me.

SAWEET!!... I'm gonna do it. Man that looks awesome. How's the sound?... I used the JBL GTO 527's... as far as hooking the tweeters up, how?... and should I use sound insulation for the others and if so what should I use?

Couple questions on the tweeter install. Do you have to hard-wire them in line with the speakers or do they have connectors of some sort? Also, Instead of getting rid of the volt meter, could you have done away with the fuel gauge and moved the other gauges around to the bottom holes?? Thanks...

I have the Polk tweeters too - they have a crossover so you can solder those wires to the tabs on your speakers then mount the crossovers someplace (I drilled some holes into the inner fairing plastic bracing and zip-tied 'em there), then mount your tweets and you're set. They sound great too!

Thanks.... here are the instructions and these have the cross overs...(I was fortunate enough to get these from another forum member.) others don't have them. Depending on what you buy.

SPEAKER WIRING INSTRUCTIONS

As far as wiring, it depends on how the "crossover" is incorporated with the tweeters you choose. There are 2 types:

Ones that have an "in-line" crossover (No box)
And ones that have a separate little "crossover box" for each tweeter.

The tweeters with an 'in-line" crossover are simple to wire....Basically just "piggyback" the wires off of your present speakers. Positive to positive and ground to ground (negative) They'll work in addition with the main speakers and the simplest way to go.

The ones with the separate crossover are a little different. They have 2 wires going into each crossover box ( positive and ground) and 4 wires going out of each crossover box to each speaker (a pair of Low Frequency wires and a pair of High Frequency wires.)

I just wired the 2 wires that go into the crossover box right off the speaker terminals. Then I wired the pair of HF wires to the tweters and just taped off the LF pair of wires...That way you get full frequency to the main speakers and the component tweeters get the high frequency, and will work in addtion to the main speakers to "compliment" them. (( I got the "fullest" sound this way, Also Pez at Hogtunes reccomended it. ))

<< You could also wire the 2 wires that go into the box separately to the radio's speaker wires (take them off the main speakers.) Then run the LF pair of wires out of the box the the main speaker and the HF pair of wires the tweeters. ( this cuts off the high frequency to the tweeter in the main speaker and only uses the component tweter) This also how the instructions will tell you how to wire them. >>
