How did you set the alarm to self arm itself when the motor is shut off?
My Ultra is still set up where I have to arm it manually.
on 07 and up there is no need to 'arm' the system. it is a passive system which requires that the keyfob be within range of the bike in order to disarm.
If you have not changed your code on an 07 and up hd. You are leaving your bike unprotected from crooks. My dealer stressed this. All are the same from the factory. Change it to be safer.
I did this too about a year ago and was 20 miles from home. Didn't have my card with me nor the owner's manual. My bride was kind enough to bring me the spare fob, tho.
Here's what I do to avoid the problem.
I put the fob and gas key on a leather "key chain" that goes on my belt. No other keys on the chain.
When I'm not riding the keys go in the same spot in the house. This way
the bike will not start and I can't leave until I get the key.
The worst thing that can happen is trying to move or work on the bike and the alarm goes off and I have to go get the key.
I figure that's a good thing.
