i went to my dealer yesterday and asked about getting some Screaming Eagle slip ons. the price sounded ok tome...$350.00 for the set. i think i can do the install myself to save a little $.
im not interested in going any faster and heat is not an issue. all i want is a little better sound. the parts guy said slip ons was the way to go. BUT.....he told me i would not have to do anything else to the bike....no downloads no nothing. please tell me ifall i need are the slip ons.
For the price of Harley slipons you can do a true dual set up. I just did it on my 2008 Road Glide and it sounds good and looks stock. Go to http://www.superflowmufflers.comand take a look. I did the SuperFlow True Dual Combo Kit with a 2" baffle it cost me right at $340.00 shipped to my door.
What about warranty concerns, are the SEslip onsthe only ones that will not void it? And if you install them yourself is that going to void any kind of warranty?
Just slip-ons mod? = no download or fuel management needed as breather presents the limiting factor in creating a potentially dangerously lean condition.
Just air cleaner/breather mod? = no download or fuel management needed as stock pipes present the limiting factor in creating a potentially dangerously lean condition.
Slip-ons, aircleaner, and/OR duals at once? = fuel management needed.
You said it yourself the S/E slip-ons sound OK. And thats about it. Very little difference in them from a stock muffler. They're usually a big disappointment after a day or two. Lotta money and not much sound. Shop around a little and don't get sucked into the deal that it's gotta be all Harley. Wild Pigs , Rush, theres a lotte choices that sound much better. Good luck
