I wanted to get the SEStage 1 for the Ultra and go with the download from Harley and not the SERT. I probably won't do any more mods on the bike. I talked to my service guy today and he tells me that Harley is not doing the downloads since 2006, because of EPA regulations and the only option was to buy the SERT. What do you guys think about that?
Save your $$$$ - If your just going to go with the download - Your dealer will still have to comform to current EPA Laws... Which means it will still be adjusted on the lean side (and lean means heat).
dawg is right go to a different dealer! The St I St II legal and performance downloads are available on Digital Tech II. They're 149.99 at our shop. Unless and even if you are using SE Street and Performance mufflers the download is still to lean. But if you use the SE S&P mufflers you are stilllegal and under warranty. But it sounds like the dealer you went to wants to sell the more expensive Race Tuner and probably wouldnt warranty any problems anyway!
This is the dealer that I bought the bike and the extended warranty from. They have stated that if all the work is done by them that it will not affect my warranty and service policy. They will even replace the SE air cleaner as needed and only charge for the price difference for SE. I was going to go with SE so as to not affect the warranty, but I don't need a $459 Sert just so I can install an air cleaner. I will check with the other dealers tomorrow.
I think you need to scout a trusted local independent in your area beforeyou and your money go your seperate ways. Your warranty will not be affected unless HD proves that a modification you made caused the part failure. HD's hands are tied in some ways here and they won't go bankrupt if you don't get your tuner and stage work done with them. Trust me on this one!

I was told the same thing form an indy shop. She said the download was not availible anymore for an 05' Ultra from Harley. She did say that they could look for it but a reace tuner would be better for a lot of reasons.
