Yes, I've felt a wobble on manydifferent kings and my 08 as well. BUT these are not sport bikeso not really a big problem. I would like to stiffen up thefront forks and add a steering stabilizer to mine. If you are used to riddingHarley's and only rideHarley's I don't think you would even notice it.
On my second RK, and do ride fast, but not on roads I don't know. 30k on the last one, 100 miles on the 08. No problem noticed on either.Well there was one time where a beagle ran out last summer just about caught the guy in front of me. I hit it square, got some wobbles there plus chit all over the lower part of the bike. I think the dog caused it.
I installed a Road King windshield on my Boss Hoss and devoloped a speed wobble, over 100 mph, something about the aerodynamics, took it off no problem, put it back on and added a dampner to the front end ,no more problems.I am going to put one on my Electra Glide when I get off my lazy a##,just because it may help if I had a blow-out on the front.
I've had mine for almost two years and have had it up to 100 a few times and no wobble. I think this like a lot ofstuff that gets repeated over and over by people that have no clue. I ride mine to work every day7- 8 months of the year on the interstate and no problems.
Mine gives abit of a shimmey at speeds around 80 on long sweepers, undulations in the road surface normally set it off. Not too much to worry about, its not going to chuck me off or anything. Its just annoying. The tyres are still planted on the road, just a bit of movement at the swingarm pivot. I will eventually get around to sorting it out. No problems in the straights, or really tight bends.
I wouldnt let it put me off buying another RK, its the best bike I ever owned. Its just not perfect, but then neither am I
I ride a 04 RKC and for the first several thousand miles I did not notice anything but as I became more familiar with the machine and rode it more aggressive I did experience the wobble in hard fast corners, it was and is not a good feeling. I started to read more about it here and other places and and the respective fixes for it and can actually go out to roads I know and make it happen, tight sweeping curves at higher speeds on uneven or repaired areas. It seems that when I encounter the uneven or bumpy area it induces the wobble, go figure. Another time it occurs is smooth pavement curves at higher speeds, when you are really hammering a corner. I do not like that sensation at all personally and it does get worse when the bike is loaded for road trips. I just picked up the Glide Pro setup this morning and am gonna try it this weekend.
I had a '80 FLT that wobbled on occasion. Specifically on a couple of Houston on ramps that were decreasing radius, allegedly 50 mph 180* corners. I attributed it to the fat 16" wheels getting on thesidewall of the tread(scraping floorboards) and first trying to turn in/ then out due to the changing radius of the tire. A little unstable, but not serious. Just rode it out, no problem.
