So yesterday I went to my local dealer, Anaheim-Fullerton HD to buy some clothing. Before leaving the house I checked the prices of Chicago HD (website) and found exactly the jacket I was looking for on sale for $84.00, regular price $105.00 When arriving at my dealer I picked out the jacket, a collared HD button down shirt, leather belt and a ball cap. As a frequent customer they all know me there, so I thought they might be willing to match the Chicago HD price of $84.00 Nope! No chance. They just asked if I was planning on flying to Chicago anytime soon. They didn't even offer me a token 5% discount. Trying to rationalize that it would cost me as much to ship everyting here, I bought the merchandise from my local dealer. When i returned home I calculated the cost of shipping and it was only $8.95 I could have saved $13.00 on the cost of the jacket even with shipping. I guess I'm upset that I couldn't get any kind of price break, but more upset that they didn't even seem to give a ****. More of the HD dealer attitude that I'm growing tired of. Am I the only one who feels this way? [sm=violent053.gif]

I shop at Hales HD unless its for a bolt or something I can;t wait for. Local dealer is full boat and taxes to boot. John at Hales hepls me out with everything including finding clothing to fit
Shipping is usually alot cheaper then full boat ans Tax
Same thing here at the Baton Rouge Dealer, it's worth our ride here to go an hour west to Lafayette and deal with them. Tried to get BR to give same deal as Laf. but to no avail. so off for a nice ride.......[:@]
Next time, let them know you will go where they give you a decent discount. If enough do that, the palying field will level. It shouldn't take a genious to realize some profit is better than NONE!!!!!!!!!! (Dealers have to be idiots, most of the time - same thing is true at ANY dealership - car - boat - sporting goods store - you name it)
Do what I do, try on the clothes, jackets, chaps, ect....at the local HD dealer, then get online and order what you want. If they ask you if your going to fly there, say nope, i'm going to use your showroom and take up your time, then I'm going to buy it some place else.
I live in a Suburb of Chicago. And the people at Chicago Harley are nice folks. I bought my first bike at Chicago harley 20 years ago. And the salesman is still there. Gotta like that. Although I shop at Sykes. Other wise I would have to pay the sales tax in Illinois As far as the other harley dealers in Chicago. They wont discount a penny. And act like there doin me a favor. Ya right.
HD makes the majority of their money on parts, repairs, and clothes. Plus re-selling used bikes that were accepted as trade-ins. So of course they're not going to reduce retail prices on their #1 money-maker. I just go to Wilson's leather, who cares if it says "HD" on it?
