I would stick with HD.
Twin Cams are designedto operate with a 10 micron filter.
Evo's for example use a 30 micron.
Put a TC filter on an Evo and watch it starve to death.
Put an Evo filter on a TC is ok, but you cut your filtering down to 33% in comparison.
Wanna take a chance with cheap Wally World paper?

Gotta agree with farns on this.
I did a bunch of searching around and the Harley filter isn't that much more expensive than most others.
Most filters won't filter to 10 microns , and if that's Harleys' spec , I wouldn't mess with a lesser spec filter.
Harley has 2 colors anyway.......black or chrome , the two best colors.....

That's interesting! Can you cite a source for that information? I'd like to research why the need for 10 micron in Twinkies virsus 30 micron in EVO's. I appreciate the info.!

I've used Fram filters from Wal-Mart, I've used Drag Specialty filters from a local shop, and I've used the HD filters from the local dealer............they all work the same and all cost between $8-$12.

I have my motor apart right now for some changes, and everything looks as good as it did 15000 miles ago when I played with it the last time.

For me it's a matter of convenience.........if I need one quick I go to Wal-Mart or the local shop if it's open, if I'm at the dealer and am planning a future oil change I grab one there.

As suggested above, I use the regular black HD filter.

I usually add a couple filters and gasket sets when I order from an on-line source. Get two or three of each and set them on the shelf for the next time you (or someone locally) need one.
