Sorry don't want to hijack your thread either but I think i figured out how to add the diagram for the passing light mod, also one for heavy duty wiring to the headlights. I've done the passing light mod and it works great, didn't feel the need to do the heavy duty wiring one as I use regular power bulbs....here it goes.....
I installed a kit from Pilothid.com. It is a really easy install. The most difficult part of the install was finding a location for the ballast. Given the amount of space in the fairing, even that wasn't that difficult.
for the wiring, Just remove the terminals from the plug, and swap the high beam one with the low beam one...Your high beam will now be your low beam HID, and your low beam will be to your highbeam halogen however you will still have power to your aux lights,... Works on paper...
I only use (A) both Hi & low HID beam HID light. Using a Halogen Hi beam defeats the purpose of HID. As far as $80/unit. I pay 2X that for my kits in China & I have to ship it to the USA. I buy in a large volume. I do not buy the cheep units because I already have a closet full of these units that are not the best for motorcycles and/or the Ballasts are too large in physical size. I wanted HID for my self and wound having to build the units (contracted) to my specifications. You always get what you pay for in the end.
Bargain Hunters NOTE*
BTW I do have several 1 off units that do not work on motorcycles for sale cheep. I want to get rid of them at a loss.
Thanks for the info and thanks for not telling us that your unit is the best. Being objective in your threads shows me more about your integrity than anything else.

MassHD Thank You! Keep in mine who ever unit you buy, make sure it is small (ballast), easy to install, provided support, hi & lo HID, good quality ballast and bulb, proper safety components such as fuses & wire gauge, and the vendor knows motorcycles. There are many units that plain are not practical for motorcycles. Please read all of the threads I and others have taken their time writing to inform you: the end user. HID is the best so far for lighting, you owe it to your self for safety and enjoyment sake to investigate it. Remember: The best deal in the begining sometimes is not in the end. Good Luck!
I did the HD HID light.. and I'm happy with the change it makes.. My night vision's not as good as it used to be, and this lights up the road.. side to side.
I tried to put the H3 lights into the highway lights, but I found out an H3 is not equal to harleys 88x bulb.
however, I did find that I can replace the highway lamp kit that came stockwith harley's 68208-98a lamp and THAT will take an H3 bulb.. which will give me the brighter highway lights
Does the stock HD SG headlight reflector work with the HID kits?
I know I have a low beam HID on my V-Rod and the light is all over. Granted, it lights up the road from shoulder to shoulder but the stock reflector is not matched with the HID bulbs.
Mr. Fastharley, if you have a HID kit for the '09 SG, I would be interested in hearing about it.
Ya, it works well, just ask many members here who have my kits, These are not the same as auto types and have a converter to make youor single stock lens to work. They are $149.99 for the 30 kits on forum group purchase. go here
I installed the Kuryakyn HID headlight and headlight housing on my 08 FXDWG. Prob the best upgrade I've done to date. On Low beam riding on a four lane highways I can see into the forest on both sides of the road. The left-right spread on the beam is wider than any halogen (hi-lo beam) you could buy. And of course the distance is about a 1/3 farther than the halogen. I feel safer knowing that I can now see the deer hiding on the side of the road with more time to react and slow down vs my previous halogen.
