Once again I turn to my forum friends for guidance. Will be riding to the Bristol NASCAR cup series race in August. Can't find available lodging for the night of the race, so I was wondering if any of you can provide recommendations on the best campground near the track. As always your help is greatly appreciated.
I live about 15 miles from the track and I also work for Warriors Path State Park. Tell me what you want as far as camping and if it's a tent or something else and I'll try to help out. There's camping adjacent to the track, but it's $$$! Something on the order of $125.00 a night. We have 150 camping spots at the park and it's like $19.50 a night with water and electricity on site. The park is like 15 miles from the track, but if you go the back way, you only fight the traffic about 4 miles.
Houndog,
Thanks for the info. I just spoke with Hilltop campground. Walking distance to the track. They want $200 for two nights includes tent rental. Would you have any ideas about a hotel/motel that might have a room available?

I did the same thing a couple of years ago, wife and i rode from nebraska and spent the week at bristol for the truck, busch, and cup race. we have a motorcycle camper to tow behind the bagger. race traffic is bad, i recommend getting somewhere close and parking the bikes and walking back and forth. we stayed at a private house, he has a web site, neartherace.com
he rents rooms, campers and tent spots in the yard and there are many others that do the same. on the bristol racetrack website, you can get many links for other campgrounds also. be prepared for big time prices, even steeper than sturgis, but we had a blast, was worth every penny

Sad to say, but hotel/motel rooms around here during race week are scarce! Most folks don't realize it, but there are more people at the Bristol race than live in Sullivan (where the track is) and neighboring Washington counties combined. I'll ask my Daughter's best friend if they have any rooms left at Meadowview ( Marriott), but I'll bet on what the answer is. If I can help in any way, just PM me.
I always drive my truck (only a hundred miles or so) and use the Earheart parking lot almost straight across from the entrance. My3 budsand I buy4 parking spaces and pitch awnings in the empty spots and we're set. We don't have to worry about the traffic after the race, just tailgate some more and get some shut eye and leave Sunday morning. $25.00 for a parking space sure beats the 1 to 2 hundred for camping.
I don't know if your are trailering or not but if you are that might be an option.
Been there a couple times, man what a blast. and yes the camping rates are outrageuos, we always went in a motor home and it was robbery what we had to pay to park it.
If you want a room for the bristol race, make reservations now and you might get one for the 2012 race
