either yellow or orange...........
has anyone ever done this? and if so, where would I start looking for such an item?

I added the reddish/orange SE wires to my blk. 02 Ultra and they are not noticeable at all.
If you need new wires go for it, its your call.
Look at the other baggers and you will see what I mean.

The HD SE wires are the best bet and not a bad price at about 13 bucks, plus they come in orange like you want. I put them on my bike when on of my stock cables connectors finally rusted in two. They threw no codes.
