The search is out of order so I figured I would just ask.
I want to up the HP and Torque of my 88" and I am not interested in going bigger at this time. I am going to do head work, add a SERT and dyno tune. What cams should I be going with? I am looking to make 95 to 100 HP and Torque. I have changed exaust to the V&H 2 into 1.
My opinion ,If you are going to take heads off for work, spend the $300 and do the 95 inch.As for cams here are a few to look at ,andrews 37's,woods 6's and hq 0034 etc..To get good numbers you need to have heads done to match what ever cam you use.Just my 2 cents
On my evo I had Baisley performance in Portland Or do my head work with a .560 crane cam and 240&246 duration and put out 85 HP. It wasn't a radical build. Talk with Dan Baisley at Baisley performance, he is goiing to do the work on my 88TC next year. I believe he can get you those numbers. Otherwise I would suggest looking at a Woods cam. You should fine Baisley Performance on your pc search. Hope this helps.
I have a bone stock 88 with Rinehart TD's and SE a/c on my '04 EG with Head-Quarters HQ-0034 bolt in cams that provide 80/90 hp/tq; with your better stock heads and larger throttle body, you would be at 90+/90+ hp/tq with no headwork and the 2-into-1 pipe with the same cams. Given your objectives, you will get very close with just the cam swap and a good SERT tune.
As for cam selection, that will depend in large part on how your heads are set-up effecting CR.
Also, I'd have to be very sure I wasn't going to go to a 95", 103", etc. before I had the heads cut for an 88" because there is a good probability that what you do now won't work later with the later engine mods.
You should look at a 95 in. for those numbers,a good cam choice is macky510,ET performance will modify your heads+give you D ports, gear drive is a good idea at this time.Good Luck
If you are going to be doing headwork, it only makes sense to do the 95" upgrade while you are right there. It's only about $250 for pistons and having your cylinders bored..........and you'll be right there with the heads off.
Why stay at 88" and be disappointed after you get it all back together.
