Hey Lumpy,

Check out the tuner forums here at https://www.hdforums.com/forumid_264/tt.htm for tons of information.

Personally, I like the SERT cause that's what I bought.

It's mostly a personal preference thing. Opinions abound, so read up and learn what fits your needs the best.

A lot depends on what all mods you plan to do to your bike....I also have the SERT and am happy with it, but whoever is going to tune it for you has to have experience with whichever one you choose.

Lumpy: The TVII is an excellent product for exhaust and a/c changes. However, if you are going to change cams, engine size, etc., you will be better off with a SERT, PCIII, etc. I had the TVII on my '04 FLHTPI for over two years and it did great, but needed to go with the SERT when I changed cams.

Consider buying a T-Max and you won't need the tuner

+1 on the Thundermax. Pays for itselfas soon as you start making changes.

SERT is great, but requires a good (knowledgable) tuner to take full advantage of it. The dtt TwinScan II+ will help you get it tuned in w/o costly dyno time, but you need to have the wherewithall to figure out how to use it.

Tmax is ok. I prefer the DTT TCFI IID or now III to it, but it also requires the user to be pc literate and have some wherewithall.

As Carl mentioned, the TVII is good for generally stock bikes.

Just my opinion but...

If your indy is going to be the guy tuning your bike and you've talked to him about what you want out of tuning, I'd go with his recommendation. If you bring him something else he doesn't like or he's not familiar with, your not going to get as good of a tune. In my opinion, the guy tuning it is more important thanwhat equipment you purchase. Get him something he likes using and he'll make your bike run great with it.

For reference, I run a SERT because that's what was available for the 08's when I bought it. If itwould have beenavailable, I wouldhave gone with theTMAX. Ihaveheard nothing but praise for the TMAX and it doesn't require expensive dyno time. Adapts to any later mods without having to take it back to the dyno.

Good luck!!

You all are missing something! This guy is running MM/EFI! I happen to know that the TVII is a terrible tuner with the Magnetti Marelli system. Your bike will run way to lean, will ping and will never hole an idle. You'll get great gas milage though....
The SERT for MM isn't that great either. The best tuner for the MM EFI is the PCIII usb. For what it's worth,I only know allthis after years of experience and thousands of dollars spent trying to get my MM/EFI bike tuned with what are generally regarded as the best tuners on the west coast.... The best move and the least expensive is to convert to carb.....
