Default 08 bar swap.....

Ok, with the search not working and me running out of patience on this matter....... I'm sure everyone is sick of seeing posts on how uncomfortable the bars are on their bikes and I'm no different. I have researched, and asked many question on here and at my dealer and came up with many "try this" and "you'll like that" ideas that my head is spinning. I'm glad I got the ABS, but for this bar swap issue, I'm not! So far my choices are:
1) Wild 1 508's (tried them on bro's bike, and don't like them)
2) Heritage bars (sat on cop bike at dealer, don't care for the look)
3) RG bars (heard bad and good)
Pretty much, after riding the bike for a while now,I want a few inches higher, and if possible, a few inches back. How can this be such a f'n problem? So many people on here have beat this issue to death (including me) and many have swapped bars, only to find they were not what they thought they were. I want to do it once. DAWG's got the "notch" part covered and I thank him for his info, now I just have to find a bar. [sm=headbang.gif]
By the way, have I said how much I love you guys and keep the info comin'

I do like the 8.5's, but I also like the 10's. Now can I do this with ABS? I may call Wild1 and see what they think.... Also call my dealer, cause I can trust mine, and ask about the ABS situation.

Here is my old bike with the 12.5 apes, they are very comfortable bars, i rode this bike 4000 miles in 7 days last year and had no hand/arm problems
on that trip. I'm not for sure on the ABS part.

Pardon my ignorance, but can you tell me what ABS has to do with the handlebars we can use? Aren't the front master cylinders and brake perches the same for both ABS and non-ABS?

So far as I have heard the extended cables are not available yet for the ABS equipped bikes.....I'm waiting, impatiently, too.

I asked last week. I'm heading over to the dealer at lunch today so I'll ask again.

Just got off the phone with Wild1's, and he stated he has pics of a guys08 RKw/ABS that put the 10" apes on and when he did it, he pulled the brake line out of the nacelle and ran it up the bars. I just went and looked at my bike and am wondering how he ran the line up the bars? The ABS lines run parallel underneath the tank and are zip tied to a plastic channel, holding it to the frame, just about even with the front of the tank. Now, I also can tell the brake line from the bar isnot very long and looks kinda like a cars brake line, in that it is hose for a few feet and then looks to be hard pipe where it runs under the tank towards the ABS unit. How did the guy run the brake line outside of the nacelle up to the bars without kinking it or it looking bad? Anyoneknow this guy who did this? Keep us posted BLUEROSE....
