Default RE: Honda MC moving out of Ohio

The whole "made in America" thing is a funny debate. I personally don't know how many Harley parts on the factory bikes are made here or in other countries. Is the Harley more or less assembled here like the Honda was or is the Harley made in America AND built in America? Also, I think the problem isn't always just buying American. It's about buying quality. I used to buy all lawn equipment and tools that were only made in America, that is until I got a Honda Tiller and realized it ran better, smoother and lasted longer than it's American counterpart. I still believe in buying American, but if the American product is going to be inferior, I'd much rather buy quality than American. 90% of my tools are all made in America and I do go out of my way to find them. Channel Lock is a great company and makes great tools by the way, all american that I know of. If Americans would get some pride back and build things with heart and dedication, people might start buying American again. The reason why people buy Toyotas over Ford or GM is because they are built better, in general, and last longer in general. You find a few Fords and GMs that have 300,000-500,000 miles on their cars, but they are far and few between. No go look at some older toyota corollas and honda civics and you will find so many that have at least 300,000 miles and have never had their engine rebuilt or even any major repairs. I'm all for buying American if it's a good product. I'm getting a new Harley soon and am proud of it, but c'mon, how many of you, knowing what you do now, would still buy an AMF (is that the right company that used to own Harley?) over a more reliable Japanese bike 20 years ago.
