I took off my rear shifter off my SG, only use the front shifter now. Is there a chrome spacer out there that will allow me to move my front shifter out to the end of the shift rod? Links?
there are at least 2 available that i know of. the hd one is a cap that fits on the shaft leaving your front shifter in the same location. it runs about 13 bucks. kuryakyn makes a sleeve that fits behind the shifter that moves your shifter to the outside position. it runs about 25 bucks. i guess it depends on whether or not you have to have the shifter in the outside location as to how much you're gonna spend.

Pingel Heel Shift Lever Eliminator Kit
Found this kit- but, I used the Kuryakyn on my Ultra, looks the same to me
- only extra step is trimming the rubber spacer washer so you can get enough clearance to tighten the set screw, recommend you use Blue Locktite also- Some mebers keep the fwd shifter as a spare.
I think the moco has a cap, but not a spacer. I know softbrake has chrome spacers though. Scroll down to see them, spring loaded and plain. I would be surprised if kuryakyn did not carry one either.
Thanks for the replies. I did buy the HD end cap because I removed the rear shifter. I just didn't know that the shift peg sitsso close to the bike, I want it to be further puched out from the bike.
i have seen more than one rider take the rear lever off and reposition it on top of the bottom lever. keeps everything in alignment. when pushing down to down shift the extra heighth isn't a bother.
Funny you should ask...I just did this mod on my 'Glide. Went to Ace Hardware, bought a steel spacer, 3/4" i.d. x 1 1/2" long ($1.10), and an O-ring ($.28). Cut 1/4" off the spacer, took it to the chrome shop this morning at 9 am, got it back at 5 pm ($20). Put the O-ring next to the inner primary just in case there was any friction wear there. I could have cut it off a little shorter and put an 0-ring by the shift lever as well, but I didn't want to spend another $.28...lol, just kidding! I also could have painted it black to match my inner primary, but hey, I like chrome, what can I say? The chrome guy felt so bad about charging me 20 bucks he said to just bring in any other little pieces I need done and he'd chrome them for free.
Top, Kuryacken makes one that is on par with the quality of the rest of thier stuff. Its loose and rattles real nice. I make these out of 6061-T6 and polish the hell out of them. Interested in a QUALITY American Made part?
Sorry the picture sucks not enough light in the garage right now.
