Default Another stupid question

Can anyone explain why Harley uses so many different types of fastners on their bikes? I thought I had a pretty good selection of tools until I started wrenching on my FLHX... Torx, Allen, 10 point only to mention a few. It's the oddball sizes that's driving me nuts.

Some fastners are selected for production assembly.

That's exactly what prompted this post! I have been using the T25 and not stripped anything out..lucky me. I decided it was time to get the right tool for the job. Four or Five stops yesterday left me empty handed. Since I have most all Craftsment stuff I started there, having the set of torx bits I didn't want to by another set just to get the #27. Long story short with the price of gas I would have been better off buying the additional set..I have a T27 now, probably cost $25 in gas and 2 hours running around.

Where to buy

Sears has a set made by Lisle with a T27 $19.99

Lowes has a set made by Cobalt $25.98

Home Depot didn't have squat (morons..and I still have my wallet)

Local hardware store didn't know what a torx bit was

Pep Boys had some fuzzy dice

Auto Zone and Advance were on the other side of town

Ace Hardware had a bit and a socket , $7.49 for the socket

I'm done, I'll go back to my corner [:@]
