Default Floorboard Extensions

Hey all. I was thinking of putting floorboard extensions on my bike for comforts sake (move my feet away from the frame some) but I'm wondering about scraping them in the twistees, as I do that from time to time with my stock length boards. Do any of you have these installed? If so, have you had any issues with scraping them in the curves to the point where it would be a safety issue or do you just adjust when that happens as you would with stock boards? Just curios. Thanks.

If you scrape now your going to gouge out the street after you put them on. I have some from Harleygoodies and it's a sweet set. They have a few around like soos also. I do like them and they are worth it for other than you type of people. I did not scrape before and still don't after with a 7/8" ext. You may want to stay away from this upgrade.

Got mine from soos here on the forum. He makes them and sells them to forum members for a discount. I don't scrape with mine.

I made my own easy enough and still scrape the pavement but no worse then before.

It was easy enough really. I just took all the hardware off and matched it up at the hardware store with new stainless steel hardware a little longer.
For spacers I just used a couple of ss nuts between the frame and floorboard bracket.
I painted aluminum spacers two. I think it ended up costingme less then $50 bucks.

That way you can custom adjust then in and out to were you want them. Even if its just enough to stop melting your shoes.

I scrape very little before and I scrape occasionally with them. My problem is on the left side I scrape the kickstand most of the time. I have not figure out why yet. I ride a standard height ultra classic.

There was a major clearance problem on my SG, making it unacceptable for my style of riding--but there's hope. Simply raise your floorboards up to the highest level. Unless you have very long legs I can't imagine this would be a problem. I am 5' 10" with a 30" inseam and after a 5-min. ride I didn't even notice the change, except the scaping stopped. It made an enormous difference, probably giving me more clearance than I had before I added the extensions. A math whiz could probably give us some numbers, which would be interesting. I ride with two friends who own BMW GS's and their riding style can be somewhat aggressive at times. With my present setup (12½" Progressive 440 shocks, extenders, raised floorboards), I rarely scape my floorboards except on hard, slow turns, like pulling out of my driveway. Once at speed it is very uncommon for them to scape, and for me it is a very good arrangement. Having the floorboards out 3/4" doesn't sound like much, but it is a big improvement.
