I saw a statement in the Tech Tips section, https://www.hdforums.com/m_155251/tm.htm , regarding calibration to 05 model ECMs and wondered if anyone might be have more details. Would this be refering to things like the stage I download? I could see if that were true it could explain the pooing etc. on decel, perhaps???? Is there anyway of knowing whats in you ECM similar to looking for trouble codes?
Ok let's give this another try.....................
I love all of your guys opinions regarding the SERT vs PCIII vs FuelPak vs etc, etc,...........
so here we go again this dumb *** guy (who will remain nameless) went off and got the stage 1 download on his 05 RKC before finding out that there was a forum he could consult with a wealth of information regarding all things HD. Now this poor mis-guided sole has found his way there and read the below mentioned Tech Tip and posted a question to that now beloved forum and is looking for a little input.......and please read the question this time

If I understand the question, you asked for personal experience with the factory download.
I will get booed out of the building for this, but this is what I did. I put on a SE Air Cleaner, Touring mufflers, and had the download done. I do not know how to go about looking to see what is in the ECM. I guess it is the standard download for the modifications I did.
My results:
I have ridden this bike from 11,000+ feet to sea level and have never had a performance issue, or had the bike run bad.
Did I get max performance? Don't know, but it is better than factory. Could I use more power? At 11,000 ft. yes. Does it have more power than my old '95 Roadking with performance mufflers, SE Aircleaner, EV13 Cam, and a carb jet job? At least as much, and probably more.
I did the wrong thing by all accounts by not getting a power module, but my bike runs good and I am satisfied.
My understanding is there is no way of telling what configuration is loaded in the ECM - for example, you can't pull the load from the ECM to see what's in there. It's a one way road - from a laptop/PC to the ECM. Thus, the importance to make sure you get a copy (on CD) of what the stealer loads into the ECM.
The dealer can hook up to the ECM with their digital tech and identify what map is loaded into the ECM. As far as your question, NO there is no way for you to obtain what map is in the ECM right now on your bike using any of the diags incorporated in your system.
I believe this is what you were asking?
Could you highlite and copy the tech tip name in that forum that you made reference to and paste it here, that link doesn't work and I'll check out why.
