Default SG Wobble

Hello all,
I've only owned my 08 SG for about a month now. Seeing as its in new England the furthest I've ridden it was up the driveway when they delivered it! lol Anyway onto my question. I've been reading a lot about "Bagger Wobble" Did HD fix the problem on the newer bikes? All the aftermarket parts to fix the wobble appear to be for older model touring bikes. I notice that the 08's have an engine brace attached to the front cylinder. Is this something they did to address the problem?

Thanks,
Willie

dont know about the brace but after i lowered the front an inch with the hd springs, the little wobble from the rear disappeared. probably cause the stiffer front lessened movement that would have added to the rear movement therefore increasing any wobble. if that makes any sense.

Haven't noticed a wobble on my 07 and I ride pretty aggressive sometimes.

the wobble originates bc of the rear of the drivetrain not being located...instead the swingarm pivot bolt runs thru the rear/bottom of the tranny...the bolt goes thru rubber bushings...try a true track

I've had it from time to time in my 08 SG. I've found that if the tire pressure is 38/40 and the air ride is set to about 20psi, it's not near as noticable. I can still feel a little bit, but it's what I would call normal. If the tire pressure gets around 33/35 and/or the shock pressure is less than 15, it's major PUCKER TIME........

Congrats on the new ride. Put some miles on it and see what you think first. I have an 08 SG and have put about a 1,000 miles on it before the snow set in in Indiana. If you ride it hard you might notice a little wallowing. Get a feel for it first. Enjoy.

There are several threads on this forum for the Wobble you are asking about. Do a Search for True Track, Sta-Bo, and Ride Str8, they are the three most popular methods of addressing the wobble I believe.

I had never noticed a wobble.....but then again, I had never pushed hard enuff to induce one.

This weekend, I was able to knock some miles down, so found a windy section of road, with some 35 and 45 mph bends in them. Went thru at 50-60........while I never was able to get that fearsome "Head Shake" that some folks talk about, I will say this: The rear end was NOT planted, like it was on my sport bike. I was having to make numerous steering corrections to hold a line....and it was all rear end, movin back n forth.

Knowing how the bike behaves, and riding accordingly goes a long way..........doesn't make it right tho.

Thanks for the feedback. I have been riding sport bikes all my life and this is the first Harley I've ever owned. Of course I will be adjusting my riding style to suit the new bike. The missus wanted me to slow down and suggested I bought some thing a little more laid back.

I was jsut curious if the wobble was peculiar to older models or if it was present in all model years.

Can't wait for some warm dry weather to take it out!
