i seem to notice the wobble more than my friends being a new rider it takes some time to get adjusted to.

Thanks for the feedback. I have been riding sport bikes all my life and this is the first Harley I've ever owned. Of course I will be adjusting my riding style to suit the new bike. The missus wanted me to slow down and suggested I bought some thing a little more laid back.

I was jsut curious if the wobble was peculiar to older models or if it was present in all model years.
There was a change somewhere around 2002, I think, when they beefed-up the swingarm and the axle diameter was increased from 3/4" to 1". That helped, but the waggle still exists.

I had never noticed a wobble.....but then again, I had never pushed hard enuff to induce one.

This weekend, I was able to knock some miles down, so found a windy section of road, with some 35 and 45 mph bends in them. Went thru at 50-60........while I never was able to get that fearsome "Head Shake" that some folks talk about, I will say this: The rear end was NOT planted, like it was on my sport bike. I was having to make numerous steering corrections to hold a line....and it was all rear end, movin back n forth.

Knowing how the bike behaves, and riding accordingly goes a long way..........doesn't make it right tho.
Adding a rear stabilizer link, little more than a heim joint to stop lateral movement of the swingarm, made a big difference on my bike. See my write-up linked above. The downside is they are all rather expensive, mine being $440. I would do it again, however. HD could add this extra link for very little money and I'm perplexed why they don't. I guess it's a matter of $25 in parts for each bike when the problem may not be noticed by most riders, and from my experience isn't a safety issue.
