Think that is some kind of record or something? I got that beat. My wife and I left the dealership after buying my new scoot and went up the road for a bite to eat. When leaving the restaurant, I laid it down trying to pull out into traffic.[:@] Talk about embarrassing. We had witnesses!!! I barely had it an hour and a half. MY riding conditions were ideal. I challenge any man to maintain control over a scoot with a passenger onboard and the roadway giving out from under them. Now you got that outta the way and the rest will be gravy. Don't sweat it[sm=biker.gif]
It happens! Big deal. I layed my Big *** Suzuki one day after I brought her home. I was on some soft and wet soil only three blocks from home. Picked the thing up and off I went. Same thing happened on my new Streetglide in my driveway that had some oil on it. Footing went and so did my bike on it's side. I felt stupid but no damage to the bike or my leg! I just got back on a kept riding. Now I try to stay away from mud and oil. Lesson learned. Enjoy your new bike and go on another date.
Heck, he shouldn't feel bad, I hit an icey spot at a stop light, laid it over, was picking it back up with the help of a lady who stopped, got it up, putting the kickstand down and the lady pushes it over on the other side. What can I say, Thanks for the help cuz at least she was trying to help. The crash bars saved the bike which is what they are there for.
Glad you guys are ok. Don't be too hard on yourself about laying it over, I head aboutthis oneguywho forgot to put his kickstand down before dismounting...
At least there wasn't a couple hundered fellow bikers around, I laid mine down coming from Custer State Park going into deadwood the back way where the tunnels are. I was going on the one way lanes got off to the side of the road into the dirt wasn't able to get it back on the road. bike fell over and my wife and I fell down a little incline. any ways it was during Strugis so there was a few fellow bikers behind me and in front of me. One good thing everyone it seemed like was stopping and asking if we were okay, plenty of help to get the bike back on the road. I felt like a dumb ***.Almost every one has done it, most won't admit to it. DON'T FEEL BAD.
P.s. I'll bet someone on this forum seen us do it.
Tell him not to sweat it. Just about everyone will do it at least once if not more. Our HOG chapter has a "OOPS I Dropped it" award that gets passed around. When you get the reward you tell how you droped it. Everyone learns. It's more embarassing than anything else. Glad you didn't get any scratches, but even if you did, you can replace the parts easy enough, but it takes time to heal if you get hurt so you are more important.
