Engine warm up
I start mine, go close the garage door, put on my helmet, fingerless gloves and vest,
or what ever I feel like wearing. The stop light in my sub division gives me plenety of warm up time.

Roll her out of heated area. Start er up. Go get gloves, helmet, whatever. Close door. By the time I am pulling down the drive it is usually 3-5 minutes, and oil temp is 90+. First 4-5 miles are ez. Then it is whatever the mood is that day.

Start her up, put on my jacket, gloves and googles. Ease out the neighborhood at 5:30am (just being considerate). Then ride it like I stole it.

Pine Tree,
"For me, it's about a minute...I back the bike out of the garage, hit the started, walk around checking headlights, turn signals, and brake lights.
Then, put on my helmet, glasses, gloves, the test the front and rear brakes. Slip it into first and motor away...all about a minute or so. "

This is a good habit and similar to mine. Fire it up,close the garage door, put on helmet and glovesand then ride. The first couple miles i'm really easy on the bike. That's not difficult to do cuz i've got a couple miles of downhill dirt road to get down to the freeway entrance from my home, so wouldn't want to go fast anyways and this couple minutes of 20 mph coasting warms it up very nicely and by the time I'm at the freeway entrance I can get on it and go.
My bike's got 71,000 miles on it and has given me no troubles so I guess this works (EFI).

I'm with the group that warms it up. I do it longer on the cold mornings, or if it's been sitting awhile. All my working life I've heard/ been taught"warm up" on various kinds of equipment, and if I waste a little bit of gas doing it, no biggee.I just feel better letting the engine components and the oil get a little warmth to them before heading off.
Guess I was in the minority on this one. I start mine as I head down the driveway. I have a 1-2 minute ride through the neighborhood before I get to the main road so by the time I pull out into traffic, I'm warmed up and ready to go. I didn't mean to imply you start your bike and immediately do a burn out in your driveway. My point was that new motors don't have the same quirks as the old ones. Also, I live in South Florida so when I start my "cold" engine, theenginealong with the oilis already 85-90 degrees. You guys up north may be a little different.
