I took my 08 Ultra to the dealer to have a SERT installed and dynoed. I installed a SE air intake and the Supertrapp SE slip-ons myself. After leaving the bike, I got a call from the service tech saying that that particular muffler would not accept the O2 Sensor (sniffer) so the SERT and dyno could not be performed. They said that they needed to drill a hole in the muffler, however, that would totally destroy the exhaust. I called "bullshit" and took my ride home. I looked at the mufflers and could see all the way up to the exhaust header. Plenty room for the sniffer. The R&D folks at Supertrapp have never heard of that problem. Any of you out there know what the dealer was talking about. I have not had time to call other dealers in my area, but plan to do so.
No closed end cap and they offered to take my money but said that I would not be satisfied with a generic download that best fit my set up. That is what really confused me.
Jamie at fuel moto had to drill a small hole in the baffles to get the sniffer to the header pipe when we did the dyno tests last year. I believe the two offset baffles do not allow a direct shot through fot thr copper tube. -- Tom
I have the Supertrapp SE's on my bike with the SE aircleaner and SERT. I didn't get it dynoed, I heard that it's so close it wouldn't make much difference. I haven't run the bike yet, it would be nice to have the option to have it dynoed if I really did need it some day though.
Not sure what they look like but it seems if they did have to drill them you could aleays tap the hole and run a nice short bolt in. This would leave the option to dyno later if any changes were done. I would imagine they are talking of drilling into the end which would be hidden by the end cap anyway. You could always mig it back closed again also. I am interested as this is the setup I will be running whenI pick up my bike. How is the performance difference without the dyno?
