Ok first off I love having the white bike...it's not your average black and I rarely see another. But....
It's spring in CA and I have a lot more surface area then I had on the Deluxe. I look like a giant bug splat! My daughter came out to the garage last night and said my bike was dirtier thenshe has ever seen it. I've been commuting on it and havehad no toime to clean [:@]
Then I get behind people and they think I'm a cop [&:] They slow down and do 35 in a 45 so I don't give them a ticket? Sheesh! Then even worse they get made when I pass and figure out I'm not a cop [8D]
Don't get me wrong, I love my Pewter Denim finish. It's just a helluva lot more challenging to get bug guts off of textured paint than it is to wipe it off a clear coat job.
DUH!!! Thats why i will never own another white anything...... It is a pain in the A$$ to keep clean... I too enjoyed my white heritage but again never again... I should have known though... I had a white car in high school.
I don't have any experience in being mistaken for a cop, but it is my experience that white vehicles are much easier to keep clean than dark ones, especially black. Black shows every spec and even every waterspot.
Bev, the white is more visible (as you have already found out) and shows less dirt than black would. The bonus of not singeing your epidermis mid-day makes it even better. The only downside I ever found with white is it contrasts more with rust (don't buy white clunkers) and non-clearcoat white seems to absorb dirt out of thin air. I had a white Alfa Spider once that needed a polish every time I washed it!
I would also agree that white is way easier to keep looking good than black. I had a white truck and now have the same vehicle in black and white was MUCH easier to keep looking reasonable. Plus, as said above, black shows every scratch, nick, splat, ding, EVERYTHING!!! But its cool right?

Agreed. Both of my Kawi's were vivid black (of sorts) and a boogar to keep clean.

RE: Having a white bike is challenging?
I think white bikes look great and, as already mentioned, they have good visibility. Fact is, H-D's White Gold Pearl is my favorite color. If I could have gotten my FLHT in WGP, I would have.
