boy these dealesr sure can run hot and cold. i did the run from daytona to ocala the fri nite of bikeweek when that hellacious storm was rollin thru. next day io noticed my *** was gettin wet every time i sat on seat. it had taken on water. called the dealer ive been praising on here so often. Seminole HD in sanford fl. told em my story. guy named Jesse in the service dept says"Naw, we can't cover that. we can't be held responsible for the rain" i said-you mean i cant ride my 20K HD in the rain??? "wait a minute " he says. comes back and has me copy down an 800 number and says "call them"
pissed off i call the HD dealer that ive been bitchin about Orlando HD and speak to a guy named Jerod. tell him same story. "Let me get your # and call you back". right i say to myself. bout an hour later he calls back and says my new seat is on order and they'll call when it comes in. now these are the people that wouldnt work with me on a def pair of grips. go figure.
Imagine that, a motorcycle seat gets wet when it rains.
Maybe that's why you see all those disclaimers in the bike listings "Never ridden in the rain".
yeah, how bout that??? seat getting wet aint the problem. it soaking the rain up like a sponge i figure is a little over the top.m i dont mind spending the money. i just expect quality in return. since they're replacing it i assume they expect quality also.
yep, they're takin care of it. i expect a vehicle that is going to be in the weather to be somewhat built to withstand some.
not to go off on a rant but had i known about everyone expecting the lifters and cam chain tensioners to have a life expectancy of only 25K i might of stayed with metrics.i cant believe replacementof parts like these at such low mileage.they must really count on people spending 20K plus and only doin a couple K a year. unreal. im at 34K and have an intermittent lifter noise left side. warranty runs out in august nad im gonna run it til i can get em to warranty those items(if im lucky)
I've got 25,000 on my 07 FLHT and had also heard about the cam chain tensioners going out at 25,000. Just took my bike in for new tires and a couple other odds and ends and asked them about this. They looked it up and said there it isn't a scheduled maintenance to replace them or inspect them. They said they haven't had any problems with the 07's since they became hydrlacaly (can't think of how to spell that now)adjusted. Told me that if I hear a different sound to bring it in.

i certainly hope ive been misinformed BUT i actually heard that from the service writers at Seminole HD among other sources. i'll be damned if i'm gonna change em due to mileage. we've done 34K since jan 07. feel like im changing the oil every month as it is
