So the on switch comes on and the light glows like everything is ready (left hand side) but the cruise will not set and engage when pushed (right hand side).
Is there something simple I should check out or do I need to take it in and have it checked out?
Really hoping for something easy....anyone?
Your not touching the brake while your trying to set the cruise. Take it out for a ride, get it up to about 50 mph and push the cruise button forward and let go of the throttle and see if the bike accelerates.
Mine is a Ultra but when the same thing happened to me it was the set resume switch on the right, had to replace it ....Sorry I don't think its a easy fix...
No, not on the brakes. It began a while back whereby when I would first crank up and ride it would set once. Then trying to re set it would not. If the bike was turned off and re started it would set again ok....but only once, not a second time. Weird huh?
I appreciate any help as to what to check out.
I have an '06 Ultra and find that after turning the switch to "on" I then flip the resume switch (right side) to the rear as if you were increasing the speed and the light will change to the activated mode and the cruise control takes over.
Na, not really wierd it's exactly what mine was doing...I was caught in a real hard rain storm and wala guess what the switch got some water and took a full blown ****....
on the neck, one throttle cable has a connector with two spades and two wires. Pull one of the wires loose and see if that helps. This will work temporarily until you can replace the cable. You will be able to set and cancel, but no resume or accelerate.
I guess I should have told you it didn't happen right away ...We hit the rain outside of Pigon Forge down south, but it worked fine untill we hit Penna, and then it started to act up and then quit all together..
You are talking about the throttle roll off switch ,but I tried that with mine and no difference... But that is one place to check sometimes that will fix it...But you will still have to get another switch for the roll off
Sure you're engaging it correctly.
With left switch in on position, pull right switch back with thumb, then press forward to engage. If you just press forward CC won't engage, atleast mine won't.
Sometimes it's something simple and stupid...just a thought.
