..other than for those who have a physical problem, and can't ride a 2-wheeled bike....why would anyone want a trike?...I've ridden one before and couldn't wait to get back on my Shovel...I'm not tryin to bash Trikes...they been around forever...but I always looked at em as a machine for those who couldn't do a regular bike...[sm=dontgetit.gif]....top it all off..they ain't cheap!

First off, you're right, they ain't cheap!! We have a 07 EGC and a 07 GW Trike...about $ 35000.00 invested in the trike.
Why? well, I'm not handicapped, but as we get older the 900lb plus bike get to be a little much to hold two up, gravel parking lots, u-turns etc...plus a trike will let you relax and see the sights more (gawking) riding two up...now most your riders will not get it, but one day you too will be older and may say, "you know, them trikes ain't to bad looking"....it's just another option available to riders let want a heavy touring bike...
And I hate to admit it, but as we get older those nasty old pounds creep up on ya, so the trike is easier there too....

I still like my 2 wheels, that's way I also have the EGC....the "ME" bike....

I totaly understand where you are coming from Casper. Those years are starting to creep in on me too. Im not ready to give up, but when the day comes that I have a hard time holding up my touring bike I would rather Trike it than give it up.

I have MD and know that it is only a matter of time before my bike will be too heavy. I'm all ready exploring the ways of keeping my bike more sable for two up riding. Lots of options and lots of different prices. Theirs the voyager: http://www.thetrikeman.org/ , the ghost wheels: http://www.safetyfeatures.com/ghost.htm , towpak: http://www.tow-pacinc.com/main2.htm , as well as Lehman and other traditional tike makers.

I know, I could give up the touring bike, go back to a lowrider, but I've been spoiled by the cruise, radio, bags, etc....so a trike will allow one to keep the goodies and still ride...you gonna see more and more trikes on the road. The baby boomers are getting older and still want to ride the big bikes, be it Harley or Gold Wings....we like the extras....sort of like getting power windows in a car, once youhave them, it's hard to go back to cranking windows.

Do your research very well, I checked inot the voyger/towpac setup....didn't like it....if you're gonna do it...go all the way, you and your Harley deserve the best.....
I'd like to have another ridged panhead, but I know the old body won't take it anymore, bummer

We pull a camper trailer, and the Voyager/towpak is a very desireable item to many who pull trailers. Once you get to your campground, drop off the outriggers and you are back on two wheels. But neither are a trike. You have four wheels, not three, when you install those kits.

We bought our Bunkhouse camper from an elderly gentleman that did just that. He drove a Kawasaki tour bike with the Voyager kit.
