I don't care for the way they look on a bike it just doesn't flow of match the looks of the enging guard... On the '01 RKC I just upgraded to the Newer Road Glide saddlebag supports( no saddlebag guard).. If you go down (hope it naver happens - But you know the saying goes??) no matter what you do... Your going to tag the saddlebags (in most cases anyway)...
I know yall are going to say you dumbsh**...LOL...Here is the story about "WHY" I put the low profile bag guards on my 08 Anniv. SG. Me and a friend of mine had a bit to drink one night. I keep the bike at his pad for now. About a week after I got it we tied one on. We went out and looked at the bike. I said do you want to drive it down the alley? He said no...I said ahhh come on and give it a ride. He said okay. His driveway is sloped downward at a decent angle. He got on it.....and started backing it out of the driveway. When he got to the bottom of the slope he started to turn and KABOOM!!! Down goes the bike as he jumped away from it! I about chit my pants! It sat there on it's side. I said oh chit....that didn't just happen did it. As I look at the bike laying on it's side I wanted to cry! I walked over and tried picking it up. It took me 2 tries. I finally got it up with all my brute strength...but I had so much adreaniline flowing it came up like barbell with alot of weight on it. I started it and pulled it back into his garage. Started looking it over and guess what? Yup you are right....The bottom of the engine guard scratched up. I got down and looked at the saddlebag. I said OH CHIT!!! The bag is all scratched up and nicked up on the bottom of it. I said to myself.....Well it is just as much my fault as it was his! I just have to live with it. I went and had the saddlebag guards put on it a week later. But it was a week to late. It has been eating at me for a long time now knowing that the freaking thing is all scratched up. What did I do last week? I bought a new set of 105th saddlebags off a bike that is being triked. It was a very expensive lesson but now I will have a new set not scratched underneath. I am a little more at ease but it still eats me up thinking about it. This is my first Harley and it already goes down. The one thing he said to me after he dropped it made sense. He said at least it happened without the engine started and the bike moving. He stated it could have been worse by driving it into the wall at the end of the alley! VERY TRUE!!! SAD but I guess it was better then having him drive it into the wall! LOL
LONG STORY SHORT!!!! GET THE SADDLEBAG GUARDS!!!!! It will be cheaper then buying new saddlebags or having the saddlebag repainted. Trust me I found out the hard way!!

My wife and I are both short. I added these with adjustable platforms with bar-mill chrome plates. Onmy black SG they look good and function well.Unfortunately we have used them once and the bags survived unscathed.
The SG is a minimalist bike but there are some thing that do add to the look.
I'm sorry for the scratches on your bike, it wasn't your bikes fault after all.
I hate to bust your chops, but the lesson you should have learned the most was
"stay off the bike when you have been drinking"
I'm not a LEO, but I am guessing that you can still get a DWI even tho the motor is not running, but then again maybe not. Why chance it? Besides, you want to be sober so you can remember all the fun and enjoyment it brings to ride a nice Harley.
OK, stepping off my soap box now.
