Gearing changes?
I don't see much mentioned about gearing changes.
I know on the new Vettes, that's one of the first things we do. It makes a HUGE difference.
Sixth gear doesn't change a whole lot, but the lower gears really wake up.
Is this not a popular mod?
When doing a gear change is it better to regear the primary or final drive? (cost effectiveness, I guess)
Thanks, Andy

There are several ways to gear a bike. One is the trans itself, albeit not inexpensive it is a very good way to go for the older bikes. The 02 up bikes work well with a compensating sprocket change. The 07's work well with a compensating sprocket and a ring gear change. Another way to change final ratios is with a trans pulley. The wreaks havoc with belt length and axle adjustment.
In the end it comes down to what your trying to accomplish with your particular bike.

Just finished a engine sprocket change from 34 teeth to 30 teeth, changes final gearing from 2.79 to 3.15 in an 07 touring bike. Lots of people have done it and it pops up on this forum regularly.
