I had the same problem, I took a lawn mower starter rope and made a loop and when it went in after 2 hrs of wrestling, you have to think there has to be a better way.I thought, what am I going to do when I need to remove it. Well, I had to and here is what I did, Loosen the screew on the rear of the seat, slide the seat backwards, there is plenty of room, reach under and you can get to it easy. I felt really dumb once I done this and seen how easy it was. I have removed mine many times since the first struggle.

Good Luck.

I have one on each bike and don't understand your problem. Mine go on and come off without any issues. [sm=confused06.gif]

Stand on the right side of the bike when you try to take it off. To me it is easier that way...Read this somewhere on the forum...

+1. And it also helps to hold your tongue just right!

Mine is a real pain in the ***. I shove my hand down as far as I can get it and push on one rod then pull it out at an angle. Then I swear that I'll never reinstall it ( but I do it again anyway).

The '08 Ultra seats are a little thicker than my '06 Ultra was. I have that same backrest and squeeze the two prongs together as I push down on the top with my chest to remount it. You have to really push down deep into the slit to get it to snap into place and the chest push works for me.

The first time I installed mine, I was swearing up a storm. I was surprised that it came out so easily. I finally found the right angle, and I found out, for me that if my hand is squeezing from the back side of the back rest, it is easier to install and remove. Just my 2 cents.

I have had luck pushing in the one side.............. mis-aligning it with it's hole (so it stays pushed in) and then pushing in the other side and removing. I agree it can be a real pain to install and remove sometimes! Good luck!

A lot depends on the seat.My stock RKC seat is tough but the pillow seat is much easier.
