I'm serving over seas until the end of July.I've ordered a 2008 RKCthrough military sales. I'm told thatI need to make full paymentonthe bike by May 16thto receive delivery by August 08. That's OKbutin so doing bythe end of December the bike will be considered last years model. On the other hand if I jump on an 09the deliverycan be madeby October at best giveing me a month or so to the end of the riding season.I read some where on this forum that Harley won't be making any major changes for 09 because it cost to much to re-tool after the changes they made for the 08 model year. I was wondering what the collective wisdom here would be. Should I just runwith the 08for the remainder of the 08 season or should I wait and sport a new model for new year.
Hmmm? Should you buy an 2008 knowing that 2009 will be out soon...Of course 2010 will be out after that, followed by 2011, 2012... Get off the fence and pull the trigger is my opinion. There will always be a newer model available unless you plan to buy new each year. As far as 2007's and their "problems"...BS. Having owned several bikes over the years does not make me an expert on each year, it only entitles me to an opinion. For the record, I bought a brand new 2007 FLHT last year and have not had problem one with it. I love this forum and have taken many ideas off off it, one person with a "problem" does not make the whole year or production run bad. Take it all with a grain of salt, keep your head down over there and come home soon to a new bike and enjoy the freedoms that people like you and I have fought for.
Very interesting. I have zero, nada, zilch problems. A little clatter here and there but can't hear it 'cause of the JBL's[X(]
None here on my '07 RKC either, did do an IDS, coulda continued without it though. I like the '07s. 96", 6 speed, better ECM location, mounts better placed, still cables instead of TWB. I won't trade mine. Not dissing the '08s but only advantage to the '08-later would be the Brembos, don't need ABS, although nice option, and a 6 gallon tank.
Alright, back to the question at hand, wait 2 months longer and get the '09.
07 no probs. if ihad known the 08s would have the changes they did, i woulda bought the 08. glad i didn't though cause i got a really good deal and zero problems. i'd go with the 09, 2nd year bike will most likely have any bugs worked out.
