Why don't you get a dragonfly fairing and have the best of both worlds? (about $2200 painted)
+1 this is the easiest way
I agree completely. The only real big difference between the SG and the RK custom is the fairing. They will want you to pay some amount of money for the trade, I can't see them doing an even swap. So, if the cost difference is the same, or greater than the $2400 for a painted fairing, you would be wise to just get the fairing. Plus, you have the option to take the fairing off... just a thought...
Dealers don't give you anything for add ons when you trade in so why should they get more when they resell it.
The add ons on the 06SGdidn't cost them a dime in parts and labor.
If the dealer wants cash plus your bike there would have to be something really special about that 06 to make me go for it. You might as well shoot for a good deal ona trade for an 08SG if an SG is what you want.
Let's say you give the dealer your bike plus cash and then you don't like it. You will be out more money than the 06 is worth.
Just my 02 cents but I always try to upgrade in value not the other way. I don't see how trading down in value plus giving them cash would be a good deal for you.
I went in wanting to trade my 08 ultra with 2200 miles on her for a 08 road glide. They wanted me to trade on a 07 RG with 1700 miles. I test drove it and it did ride nice but. I dont like going back in years, olders always worth less in my eyes. I walked. I am thinking of trading it for a 01 heritage springer with a individual if he will come up with the right amount to boot. I dont feel I loosing 5 or 6 grand on the deal. The ultras to nice a bike to loose that much on.
