HOOKER Slip-ons
I have them on my rkc and i love them! i bought this bike used and they were already on there, can someone tell me how to adjust the baffles? how would i set the left side to torque and the right side to hp?

Each muffler has 2 allen bolts on the rear plate. Loosen each bolt in 1/2 turn increments in order to ensure that the plate doesn't bind. In other words, start with the left muffler first for instance. Loosen the left bolt 1/2 turn, then the right bolt 1/2 turn, left bolt another 1/2 turn, right bolt another 1/2 turn, etc... until both bolts have been turned out at least 3 full turns. Grab the baffle and try to pull it backwards (towards the rear of the bike). Hopefully it will move backwards some (if not, some "persuasion" might be in order). You will then be able to turn the baffle. If this has not been done for some time, it will be more difficult to do, but you'll eventually get it. You may have to turn the screws out 4 or even 5 full turns.
Adjust the baffle on the left muffler to the "T" (12:00) setting. Adjust the baffle on the right muffler to the "H" (6:00) setting. A notch in the baffle indicates where the adjustment is. Just line up the baffle notch with the appropriate letters on the plate.
Afterwards, retighten the allen bolts again 1/2 turn at a time! Remember, we don't want that rear plate to bind. Also, don't overtighten the allens - just snug 'em up good.

Has anyone confirmed that this "tuning" of the baffles really does add torque or power? Say by dynoing it. Or is it just a gimmick to make us buy them? I'm not knocking the Hooker's but I am thinking of replacing my SE slip ons and would like to consider the Hookers.

The adjusting makes a very noticeable difference, both in power characteristics and sound. You can immediately feel the difference. You definitely lose some torque when you go to the HP setting, but the motor feels like it wants to rev much freer (more HP). Also, I get no decel popping on the torque setting, but I get quite a bit of decel popping on the HP setting - another surefire indicator of the effectiveness of changing baffle positions. I have my PCIII dialed in for the torque setting, but I'm thinking of dialing it in for the HP setting since that's where I'm running the mufflers now.

where did you find the slip ons for $390
If you buy a part like a pipe from online will the HD dealership still install it? if not, where can you go to have it installed?
Thanks,
Garrison
Be sure to clean any finger prints and/or grease off the new slip-on;s using Windex, BEFORE you start the bike!
