2007 RKCustom over 5000 miles SE air cleaner slip on Phython mufflers not one complaint. 2 up most of the time, and sure bets theold Lowrider all to hell.
You will love the 07 but have them add the IDS. Will make your bike a smoother, quieter ride. You won't notice any 5th gear noise with the IDS. The reason for the noise as mentioned above are the square cut gears with the 6 speed tranny. The 08's would make the same noise but they already come with the IDS installed from the factory.
I'm a old 99 E.G.owner went to a 03 Wing Thinking ofgoing back to being a 08 E.G. owner. Just what is a IDS ??
I just got rid of my '04 Low Rider (loved it) and got into a used '07 RK Custom. It took less than ten miles to know I love the new bike even more than the ol' Low Rider. When I slow to stop, though, I feel a pronounced shudder thriought the bars (stock) three or four times before coming to a stop and settling in to a constant rhythm. Is there something wrong with the bike or is it just those beach bars?
07 roadking here. I bought it late last year but have had zero problems with it. The 5th gear noise is nothing to worry about nor the heat issue. I did the stage one download, put new fat bars on it, and some pipes. Love the bike and can see it in my garage for a long time.
In my opinion most of the threads about noisy trannies are ridiculous. If you really pay attention and focus only on the mechanical noises you can hear a slight whine. It sounds like gear noise to me and as a diesel tech at a mack dealership I hear worse gear noises every day. I have an 07' RKCustom I picked up last year when I got home from Iraq. Got it in april and I have put on over 12000 miles since then. Totaly a fantastic bike I love everything about it. Plenty of power, great gas mileage, and good looks, dont get discouraged becauseof people who complain on this forum. Go get a great bike!
Sounds like your front brake rotors are warped... take it into the dealer and have them check to see if they are out of round. I think they can be +- 4 thousands from the factory. If they are out they should fix those under warranty.
