I have read some threads here about adding tweeters and I dont quite understand calculating ohms so my question is I have a set of JL audio 8ohm tweeters with inline crossovers can I parallel them to my 5-1/4 fairing speakers on my 07 SG with damaging the radio ?
Rule of thumb... If you paralell a pair of speakers, add the total ohms for the pair being paralelled, divide by 2 to get the final load to the amp. If you use different ohm speakers when paralelling, the higher ohm speakers will work way too hard trying to keep up and probably not last. Not a good idea to mix like that.

I went through this in great detail with PEZ (Hogtunes I think) and it wont hurt anyting. Yes, it will drive it to two ohms, but ONLY at varing frequences (the Polks have a frequency circut board that comes with them), so the time your amp is pushing 2 ohms is not all the time just occasionally. No problem! And the sound difference is excellent! You can see one of the tweeters in the picture below on the top left. they fit perfectly there.

If you go to the tech zone on our site www.hogtunes.com --there is a page I wrote on this topic--explains what and whyit will work and give fancy graphs too
Even though I suggest a 4 ohm will work--your 8 ohm will work just fine
JL Makes some real nice sounding stuff. In order to make the BEST SOUND, they would probably use a fabric dome on the tweet. This sounds the best but is like a sponge--remember--were not in a car here--and excessive moisture will kill thos tweets
For MC application always suggest a hard dome tweeter--will be metal, or plastic

Thanks Pez, I do believe they are a textile dome tweeter. Cant wait to give them a try.
