Default HD Enhanced Sound System 98-05 FLHTCU

I recently installed the enhanced sound system amp on my 1999 Ultra, kit number 77176-01A. The part number of the amplifier itself is 77179-01. It was a pretty simple install since everything is plug and play. When I turned the radio on, I'm only getting sound from the front speakers, nothing from the rear. I've tried adjusting the front to rear fader and it makes no difference. I can't run my bike right now since the gas tank is off and I'm doing other work, but I'm wondering if the bike has to be running to supply enough power to the amp to make the rears speakers work. I doubt this is the case and this might seem like a dumb question, but I'm grasping at straws trying to determine what the problem might be. Is there anyone else out there with this system that can confirm if the front and rear speakers work without the engine running?

Thanks for the info. I guess it's back to the dealer to sort things out.

I may be wrong but, I think the dealer has to turn on the rear speakers for you.

Before I went to the dealer I'd check the output of the amp on the rear speakers. If you have a SM you already have the pin assignments and wire color information. Assuming you don't, the left rear speaker (+) is Brown in pin 10 of the Ultra plug; and (-) is white/brown stripe in pin 3; the right rear speaker (+) is Green in pin 11; and (-) is Light Green/brown stripe in pin 4.

Assuming the amp is providing power to those circuits, I'd check the speaker wiring.

Sorry to hear of your trouble; hope you find a solution.

I checked all the wiring for the rear speakers. The inputfor the amp is working fine, but there's nothing on the output. Thanks for your suggestions.

I'll check with the dealer to see what they suggest.

Default H-D P/N 77179-01 Installation

I am looking to install this amp on my 03 Roadglide. I have picked up some rear speakers and was looking for some written directions on how to install it on a 99 - 05 touring bike.

I have 2001 HD FLHT Standard with the amp 77179-01 and no sound is coming out. I saw you had instructions to install it, do these include a wiring diagram? Can you tell me what and where we need to check to find the solution?
