Anyone have a problem with debris coming off the front wheel and damaging the cooler? It seems to be located in a susceptible area for damage. Thanks
Funny you asked........last year in October I hit a chipmunk w/ the front tire, darn thing spat all over the cooler (HD premium type)......took a good 1/2 hour to pull the chrome cover & clean it.......Oh well chit happens........
Yes they are susceptible to damage.......but when you are moving = good airflow.

I ran over a deer carcass 650+ miles from home. When I went out to the bike after being home two days to survey the mess, I had many little pieces of deer jerky on the floor under the bike. Yum.
I don't have 1 on my 08UC. I have been looking at them and reading some about them. Don't like the idea of adding a new potential leak spot. Don't think they are necessary and i don't think it will blow up without it. Hard to justify the expense. On the other hand i like the idea of cooling the oil so that keeps me on the fence for now.
I do wonder when people say it only works while moving. If you are stopped it will not work. For this to be true would'nt the air temperture have to be the same as the oil? Even when you stop the heat would radiate from the cooler just at a slower rate. I have too much free time tonight. Maybe a brain will chime in on this for me.
