It depends on if your current bars are giving you issues. If not, I say fairing, but if you start having pain that makes it uncomfortable to ride then apes.
I have 18" apes on my bike, and I love them. But, I sure would like some tunes, as well. If I had gone with 16" apes, I am sure the fairing would still work, but I just do not think I can get the fairing to sit on my bike correctly with the apes... That being said, I will not get rid of my apes for anything... I just am trying to figure the right way to get tunes, and keep my bars...

I just put those on my bike and they look killer the way they curve around the fairing....they put my hand back to the way they were most comfortable, with standard apes verticle and not leaned back. Haven't taken a picture of them yet.
