Other than from Harley Davidson, has anyone purchase a removeable backrest (for the front) for a 2008 Electra Glide Utra Classic? Or is Harley's the way to go?
If you are planning on using the OEM seat I would consider a HD backrest. I have the adjustable-adjusts on the fly. I really like it. The only problem I have with it is I only use it solo because it is so thick and sits low. It robs a lot of room for your passanger and it hits my wifes leg. The up side easy install easily adjusted moving or sitting still, has a remote under the seat for adjustment. It is one of the most comfortable back rest I have ever used. It takes only a min. or so to remove or put on. I do not need it when the wife is with me anyway, she is softer and more fun.
I am sure some other will add to this whith different tyes that are usable other than the HD. I have used corbin back rests-very costly for what you get and only works with their seat. Mustang is good and very usable- easy for the passanger to get on or off. It works with their seat.

This is the Mustang backrest on a stock OEMUltra seat mounted on my '08 Road Glide. The mounting bracket fits fine under the seat, and the backrest is perfect. I'm really pleased with it.
