I have these mufflers with the revolver tips and they sound perfect,I was done with drone of loud pipes when I brought the new 08 Ultra Classic home, the S.E. mufflers have a nice sound when twisting the throttle but not obnoxios, and they sound even better since I just did the S.E. stage II big bore hit with the 255 cams, pipes are actually louder now - just right,go for it if your looking for mufflers a little louder than stock.
I got last week my new RK 08 with same pipes with revolver end gaps. I have driven now 500km and I am wery satisfied with their sound. I had last year Night Train 07 with Rush pipes and I HATE them bc of too loudy sound. Now I have gentleman bike....

ps. my older brother is now driving Route 66, he sterted yesterday that trip with 8 friends.. and guide..
Hi reku. How are ya mate? Greetings from Sydney, Australia. I wish your brother well on his Route 66 trip. A truly awesome ride as long as it's not rushed.
I can't help you with your SE muffler question Bob2002. But my experience with loud pipes seems to reflect some of the other folks here.
I picked a new 2008 RKC last month, with V&H turndowns (plus SERT and Heavy Breather A/C) done at the time of sale. After just 4 weeks I am well and truly over the turndowns. Loud, obnoxious (in my opinion), and "droning" after about half an hour.[:'(]
I'll be removing them as a priority. Thinking about the new Vance and Hines "Monster Ovals". The blurb on the V&H website suggests that they might be perfect for tourers. I won't jump in half cocked like I did with the turndowns though. I chose them because I liked the nostalgic look.
Hopefully someone will know about both the SE pipes and the new monster slip-ons.....
My buudy has ahd then for a while and loves them.
I had Rineharts and got rid of them.
I picked up a set on Ebay and will install them next week.
They are just what I was looking for.
