Default Soft Lowers Install

I just bought the HD soft lowers (58502-80C) to install on my '05 Road Glide. I know that they are cheap vinyl but I think they will do the trick around town until the weather warms up. I have 2 questions. It looks like you have to remove the reflectors off of the down tubes. I assume that they are just glued on and that you can just pry them off. Correct? (The MoCo supplies reflectors to stick on the side of your front fender to replace these. I don't think so!) The other question has to do with stretching them to fit. Any tricks? Or just keep tugging away at it and you'll eventually get it.

JUST TWIST THE REFLECTORS OFF A LITTLE NAIL POLISH OR STARTING FLUID WILL GET THE GLUE OFF THATS LEFT BEHIND OR YOU CAN USE GOOF OFFF

Take some dental floss and run it behind the reflectors and pop them off. If the lowers are vinyl then heat them prior to putting them on and they will stretch easier.

I bought a set of these last fall...I'd bring them back ASAP. I used mine twice before the snaps pulled thru the vinyle. For the little extra, get the ones with the H-D log. They are of much better quality and they will hold up much longer. Those cheap one will fail one cold day when you really need them. And yes you do have to remove the schwinn reflectors. Be patient, it takes a little while to get the glue/double back tape off. I soaked a paper towel with Goo Gone, wrapped it around the frame, when in the house for about an hour, and then proceeded to scrape off the glue with my finger nail. It takes a while.

Yes, they work great. I road last fall into November in the Upper peninsula of MI...the snow forced me to hang it up for the winter. I nice item to keep in your saddlebags.

Thanks to everyone for all of the greatadvice. Mission accomplished. The floss worked VERY well to remove the reflectors. A little rubbing with some Goof Off removed the glue residue. And baking the lowers in the oven @ 150Âş for about 30 seconds made it a piece of cake to install. (Although the dryer suggestion sounds like a better idea.) I then glued the reflectors back on in a lower position. Not ideal but at least they are on there. They mayprovide a little protection at night plus I thinks it may be a law that bikes need side reflectors. Anyway, I'll see how the lowers work tomorrow morning when I take it out for a ride. I'm looking forward to it. By the way, I'm not sure that the Bar & Shield logo lowers will fit my Road Glide. The description does not list a FLTR. It may have something to do with the fairing mounting brackets.

Just a quick follow-up on the soft vinyl lowers that I installed on my Road Glide yesterday. They worked great! Put on about 120 miles this morning and big difference. I got it up to 75-80 mph briefly a couple of times and no noticible rips or tears what so ever. Looks like they will work out just fine.
