I posted this in another section but I think this area I would get more response.I have a Heritage Classic and am thinking of trading it in on a new StreetGlide. I was wondering what the pros and cons if any were about that bike compared to my Heritage.
Dont get me wrong I love my heritage just looking for something new/diffrent and cant keep both and like the look of the streetglide. Any advice would be great.
I had a 00 Wide Glide. I traded it in on an 08 SG end of last year. SO far it was a good move. I have had some difficulty getting used to the differences but I think I have addressed them all. I have lowered the bike so now my short little legs touch the ground. It is still hard for me to muscle it around in the garage. I have to admit I don't like the head bobbel thing you read about on this forum I have taken to wearing a strap on my glasses. That seems to have helped with my Wiley x glasses. I mean it runs great now too. No issues there. I have Reinharts on it. I have to admit I still love the way my Wide Glide sounded. Other than that it's a good ride. I would test drive one for sure or even better rent one for a day and see if it's for you. Good luck!!
I don't have a SG, well pretty much converted to a SG now, kinda a crossbreed. I would say the short shield will get you more wind in the face but the sweet looks and jammin some tunes will make up for that fast! The fairing will take getting used to but it comes quick also! I road a Heritage and it was ok, but I love my electra! I don't think you will look back..

I traded a '97 Heritage Spinger for my '07 SG. I loved my Heritage Springer. But I love my SG even more. I ride it much more than the springer. It rides soooo much better. Handles great. I put cruise on it. I don't think I would ever have a bike without it now. I even like the stereo more than I thought I would. I really don't think you would regret the trade.
Your too big for a softail. Get the touring bike. I went from a Fat Boy to a SG and there is no comparison. You'll enjoy spending more time in the saddle and be WAY more comfortable. If your bike is a 06' or earlier(looks like it is), going to the 96in.+6sp. is a big plus also. Rent one.
I traded in my 07 Fat Boy for my Street Glide last month. I originally was going after the Heritage soft tail. Then I met the SG. The rest is history. The ride is amazing.

I put 11,000 miles on my 07 SG before my wife took it over and told me to trade her 07 RKC in on another bike for me. I got a new RG and have almost got 1000 miles on it so far. I also rode her RKC a bit as well. I would be highly suprised if you did not like the move to a fairing bike. The SG is a great ride. You should also consider the RG. The fairing design gives it a much larger feel and less confining space. When I got back on the SG I felt as if the fairing was right in my face. Not in a bad way at all, just different. People talk about wind buffeting and glasses dancing on there head and all that stuff. To me that seems like a glasses problem. I changed to different eye protection and it made a world of difference. You have to remember that everyone likes different things and you should rent one for a day if you feel like it may be something that you can not adjust to. Good luck...
I got rid of my 2004 Heritage Classic, I wish I could have kept it........ But I got a Ultra and slowly making it mine,,, I have not really looked back..... I would do it again but I do miss it
Thanks Guys for the advice! I am going to do like most said and rent one for a day or two this coming weekend and see how it feels. I went into the dealer yesterday and sat on one and liked it but I kida have short legs and could not fully place my feet on the ground but I am sure I can lower it to solve that problem. If I do buy it I am going to tell the OL that itsyour guys fault and youtalked me into it. lol. Please anymore advice Pros/Cons keep them coming. Thanks again.
