Default Adjustable Air Deflectors

Went to the Stealership yesterday to see if they had the "NEW" Adjustable Air Deflectors in stock.
I was glad to find them on the rack... until I read on the box that they are for "2008 and newer".
I took one out of the box... walked out to my 2005 FLHTCUI and the holes matched up perfectly.

The 2008 fairing evidently has 4 holes to hold the airdeflector, while the 2005, 2006, 2007only have 3 holes.
The space left over for the 4th hole in the older models is the same as the space HD decided to place a 4th hole.
I figured if that same space was not currently flapping in the wind... I'd be just fine with holding this on with 3 bolts.
SWEEEEEET!!!! I'll probably grind down a 4th bolt and plug it in just to fill up the hole.

Anyone looking to deflect some air on those hot summer rides... the 2008 kit works just fine on the older models.
If you already have the older model deflectors (springs and set openings), these new 2008"friction" deflectors are nice.

It may be tough to explain but, how/where do you feel the difference?

Part number?

The wind deflectors allow you to direct the air directly onto your body for cooling, line them up straight and it's just like a stock fairing without them, or close them for additional wind protection.

I have Freedom Wings, which Harley apparently copied...as they were on the market a couple of years previous to Harley offering them. Bought from my Harley dealer, btw !

Mine were $79. Pretty expensive for a couple of pieces of plastic, but they work great, especially after a couple of drops of Blue Loctite on the screws to keep them nice and snug and infinitely adjustable.

Hot engine heat on a hot summer day disperses faster when the air can come through on somewhat of a direct path (deflector open).
Plus... that windfeels pretty good when it's deflected through and slightly upward.

Yeah... it's a bit "pricey" at $99 for 2 pieces of plastic... I agree.
I just wanted the Pre-2008 rides to know that these new 2008 "friction" adjustables are much nicer that theprevious "spring" adjustables, and not to get too hung up on the "2008 and newer models only" printed on the box or in the catalog.

I bought em... I like em... just thought I'd shareit. FWIW
